Well you cannot no longer update to the latest version unless you reinstate. Your pro tools version will work as normal

As long as you freeze the rest of your system you'll be fine - as soon as you upgrade your OS past what the current version of PT will support you'll need to reinstate (which may be expensive).

There's a 30 grace period that will allow you a little more time to decide. Unless, you mean a couple days until the grace period is up.
However, you'll only will have 11 months of support as the renewal date remains the same as your original anniversary date.

Personally, I let my plan expire at the end of 2022. I have the closest version of what I want Pro Tools to be with 2022.12 for now.

As far as 2023 and new features, things seem to be going in a different direction than what I personally want or need.
So at this point, renewing for me personally seems a gamble because unknown new features usually equates to new bugs.
It took years of paying support for me to have the version I have now.

So I've decided to spend 2023 working with what I have (now that I have it) and be an onlooker during the feature/bug fixes for 2023.
That way, I can see what PT 2023 really proves to be down the line.

If things end up going the direction I'd personally like to see, then I'll consider getting current and the end of the year.
Maybe, AVID will offer a limited time renewal discount at the end of the year.
I don't mind a paying a bit more later if PT 2023 ends up being what I really want it to be.

In the meantime, PT 2022 is more than enough for me to make music.
It's new music that keeps the same version of PT novel for me. :)

But that's just me. Your own decision should be based on your system needs.
