Plugin User Defaults not loading

Hi all.
I'm running PT 2020.6 on Mac 11.6.8 and I've noticed none of my plugins are loading the User defaults I have previously set. I have tried redoing them but they just won't load by default. Same for all plugins. Is this a pref or a weird setting?

Hi, Not totally sure - are your presets saved in User-Documents-Pro Tools-Plugin Settings-Plugin?

Update. I've discovered some plugins do load but not others. They're all in the right folder but PT won't load the User default on some. Lost....

Are they Waves plug-ins? Waves 14.0 has a "set as my default" and when I did that, it comes up as the right setting, but where it would show the User Setting in the top right, it says <factory default>.

Any Waves plug-in that already had a User Preset showing top right prior to updating to 14.0 still show correctly and load correctly. Only user presets done after updating to 14.0 don't.

I was thinking; let me see this can't be too hard. I use SSL plugins alot, and the channelstrip across the mix. I made shure of the settings, created a user preset in the root location, (edit: and selected 'Set as user default), but SSL ch.strip won't show up with anything other than 'factory default' preset. I'll be following this thread.


The waves central thing with a manufacturers plugin-manager storing stuff you don't know about, is more and more common. Acustica Audio is a grim example of this. I use DaisyDisk to quickly reveal unwanted stuff taking up disk space.

Turns out SSL have disabled this feature because of the plugin mixer software. The workaround is to overwrite the default with your own using the Default Preset display at the very bottom of the plugin. If you click on it you can then 'save as default' with your own settings. Boom....

After upgrading to V14 I have had the same issue: Waves plugins will not default to the Pro Tools User setting. It is weird to me that the Waves plugin system (which I do not use) has priority over the plugin system within Pro Tools.

Now on to re-defining my default plugin settings on about 450 Waves plugins installed on my Mac, yay
