Default axiom 25 as controller for PT 8 problem

I previously was able to use my axiom 25 as a controller for pt7.4. Now with pt8 it's not working. I downloaded the legacy cooper (CS-10) dll and put in the c:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Controllers directory. I also used Enigma to load the xml file to the axiom 25.

When I open the peripherals in pt and attempt to add the CS-10 under MIDI Controller type the Receive From, Send To, and # Ch's do not become active. If I select ok without changing the MIDI Controller type I get the following error:

Could not complete the peripherals command because Access Violation occurred, unable to read location: 0x00000014 at address: 0x04205B2 in module: ProTools.dll

Also, after trying to add the CS-10 I cannot close the Peripherals window.

I have the axiom 25 connected using usb and not midi cable to an MBOX 2.

Any thoughts?

Look around at some recent threads under 'Virtual Instruments.' There is some info about using an Axiom to control Pro Tools.

thanks, I did do a search and found items that were dated before digi put out the updates to Legacy MIDI Controllers - Pro Tools 8 dated 1/06/09.

The cs-10 isn't working for me.

cheers, harryk

So is the CS-10 control surface personality file works as before on Protools 8?
I can see it in peripherals but can't choose the same as Harryk...
Thanks.

this is how to get your axiom to work with proTools 8........
first of all forget about enigma...its crap...

In protools set up your axiom 25...choose generic midi controller.
then go to setup/peripherals.....under the Machine Control tab check "Enable machine control Remote slave" then under the Midi controller tab choose M-audio Keyboard and choose the port its connected to on both. and choose ok.

were going to program each button manually.
for each button we program your going to always do "Step One" for each Button we program ..

Step One
1)Press "Advanced" then "Ctrl Assign" on the keyboard "its the first white key" then push or turn the button you want to program.

lets get started......

Transport buttons:
First perform step one ....

for the record button enter "cc 118" then enter. now do step one again but instead of pressing "Ctrl Assign" press "Data 2" its one of the black keys and press the numer one and hit enter.

your going to do the same thing for the rest of the transport buttons using these CC numbers

Play-CC 117
Stop-CC 116
forward- CC 115
Rewind-CC 114

Dont do anything with the loop button its just going to screw up the rest of the buttons..?dont know Why?

To get the knobs to control the faders do step one then use these CC #s
CC 33 to 40 controls the first 8 faders .

example:
fader one first Perform step one.
then use CC 33 after thats done
press "Advanced" then press data 2 and hit 0 and for data 3 enter 127 then hit enter........like magic, you should see your faders moving...

any questions just drop me an email at art2701@hotmail.com or visit me at www.mybeatshop.com/simonsmusic

Drop me a comment and let me know if I was helpful...

P.s I Sell beats on www.Mybeatshop.com/simonsmusic let me know what you think about them

IDK about Mac, but on PC this works absolutely no poblem:

If you use preset 20 (Axiom) or 10 (Oxygene) back it up using Enigma!

1. Make shure your Axiom driver is properly installed
2. In PT goto Setup -> Peripherals -> MIDI Controllers
3. Select: Type -> M-Audio keyboard
4. Select: Receive From -> Prefefined -> Axiom 1
5. Select: Send To -> Predefined -> Axiom
6. Click OK
7. Observe the display on your Axiom - it should display S Y S for a moment.
8. Now set your Axiom to Preset 20 (press Recall and use + and -)
9. You are all set!

This works similar for Oxygene, except for the Preset number, which is 10.

Now your Transport buttons control Transport in PT, if you have Sliders they control the faders, the buttons below the sliders select channel, while knobs are for pan (on the Axiom 25 the knobs control faders).

The Loop button switches focus between the Mixer and Plugin Windows.

Enjoy!

Hey Lego - just back from a gig having lost a day of work and a couple nights of sleep with my new Axiom 61 not talking to my 003 rack in PT8! Decided to register for this forum and found this thread.
Just like to say Thank You!!!!!
You have made a very confused musician very happy with your cool fix!

Why can't they make these things work out of the box?

lego- Thanks for the fix!!

After I upgraded to PT8, I lost my MIDI connection to my Axiom 61. Your suggestion fixed my problem for the song that was loaded at the time I did the fix.

But I still have the same problem when I load the other songs. I went through the same procedure and it doesn't fix the other songs.

Any ideas???
