Hello,
(This post could have just as much been in M-Powered) My question is, since I know that one of the main differences between Beat Detective TDM and Beat Detective LE is that in LE you can only work on one track at a time, is it then possile to copy-paste what I did on one track to another. As would seem necessary for drums in multi tracks so not to have to repeat the same work again. Or perhaps this is possible by Grouping the drum tracks? This is kind of a rush as I need to make a purchase today for either PT higher version (I have 6.1.2 at the moment) or some other software. Thank you, tzur |

Bump.
And while at it, perhaps it wasn't clear enough: OK, let's say I have a drum kit on 5 tracks, then in Beat Detective LE I slice the bass drum and start doing time corrections and such; can I then apply the said Beat Detective LE events I've created to another drum track (since I know Beat Detective LE can only work on one track at time)? Now, this was an example only, I do understand that I may want to have a different feel for the snare, etc., so no need to go there for the sake of answering the question = "is it possible to copy-paste Beat D LE editings onto another track?" Or, worst case scenario, if I mix down my drums on a stereo track, does Beat D LE work on a 'stereo' track? Thank you again, this is the deciding factor for me to upgrade. tzur |

The LE Beat Detective works on stereo tracks. You can buy the $495 Music Production Toolkit which adds multi track BD to LE, along with increasing track count to 48 and adding some plugins.
I agree that as is, it is not very useful for editing drum tracks. You might want to check out the offer if you buy an 003 system.

OK thanks Jeff,
Now what about copy pasting BD LE workings onto another track, or since you didn't address this perhaps you're saying no can do. Thanks again, tzur |

Not within BD unless you have the Music Producton Toolkit.
You could, however use BD to slice up the audio on the first track and close BD without conforming or crossfading. Then select each new slice one by one, move your selection down to the other regions you want to slice, and do "separate region". After that, reopen BD and conform each track one by one, making sure to do them all exactly the same to avoid phase issues. I think that should work in theory if the beat is pretty simple, but it probably wouldn't do much for you if there were a lot of fills, etc (or if the drums are really sloppy). Hope that helps...? |

pfo,
I would say that is the answer I was looking for, in other words 'not really' but with some tweaking it's possible. Any other thoughts are welcome, although this now seems pretty clear. Thanks, tz |
