Default Shut Off Selection High-Light

When I choose a memory location selection, I'm getting this distracting high-light of the selection range on all tracks. Happens also when I manually select a playhead range. Is there a way to turn this off? Just a bit annoying.

Thanks.

One way around it is to make the selection on the ruler bar such as the Meter bar when creating the memory location. That way only the ruler gets highlighted when the memory location gets recalled and not the tracks.

Depending on your purposes, you could try making the Memory Location by 'marker' then choose to apply the Zoom setting.

Therefore, recalling the ML doesn't select a range of audio, but does show the desired spot and zoom level. Your cursor would always be at the start.

I might ask, why are you using "Selection" ML but seemingly don't want the selection of tracks? If you do require time to be selected recalling the ML, then the other option, selecting a ruler instead of the clips might be better for your purpose. (You could for instance just hit the semicolon a few times to navigate to the track you do want that time selected.)

The ruler approach did the trick. Thank God for the collective brain of this forum... a person could spend a hundred years discovering all the tricks hiding in the nooks and crannies of this Pro Tools labyrinth.

That's a really good question, and makes me realize I was doing the whole ML timeline selection a bit wrong. I've always made that selection in the playhead lane which would—obvious to me, now— select all tracks. If I set that selection in the individual track, I get only that track selection highlighted, which could be useful. So I learned two things here: (1) how to control highlighting on ML selections, and (2) that no matter how many years I've been immersed in PT, there will always be events that will humble me back down to "newbie" status.

You guys are the best. Thanks!
