Default Mbox 2 is very noisy

Ive had my Mbox 2 for over a year now and the Left monitor output is becoming very noisy. Its very crackly sounding and there is a soft click every second or so. It does this even if the Mbox 2 is not plugged into the computer. I switched the left and right speaker cables and the noise showed up on the other speaker, so I know the Mbox 2 is causing the problem. Its bad enough that I can no longer stand using the thing for an hour at a time. So would getting an 003 be my only option or is there any way to fix this problem at home?
