hd core card on pciX slot

is there any reason i can't run my hd-core card (old PCI style--not PCIe) on my system's PCIx slot if i am only running the one card? (no other process cards currently installed in machine) was contemplating moving it over from 1st PCI slot down to PCIx to see if there's a performance increase. runiing PTHD 7.X, XP pro on HP xw9300 workstation. PCIx slot happens to be last one (#6) but only other card in machine right now is PCIx graphics card. problems if i move HD card down?please advise. cheers

The bottom PCI slot on your 9300 is actually the 1st slot and it's the 133MHz bus, the other two are 100MHz PCI bus and the core card should be installed in the 1st slot for best performance. I think Digi also recommend that core card should be installed there, then any accel and process card. I am running HD2 Accel on Tyan Thunder K8WE which is the same board as your 9300 and the core card is at the bottom slot, and it's been running flawlessly.

thanks for reply, bios on my xw9300 lists bottom (133Mhz PCIx) slot as #6. (that's why i put card in the normal PCI slot up top originally, digi recommends using 1st PCI slot only for core card.)

would be helpful if someone could post any links to info specifically for installs on xw9300 on digidesign site or elsewhere. spent over an hour browsing around digi site for tech docs related to this but couldn't find any. support page for xw9300 is min. specs. only--no installation advice or guidelines there... cheers.
