Default Can't close session - access violation

I've just had a session which has suddenly developed a problem. Every time I try and close it I get an access violation and then can't do anything else unless I quit PT and relaunch.

I tried creating a blank session and importing session data, but the new session did the same. None of my other sessions seem to be affected. It still plays back ok and saves and everything else, it just won't close. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Likely a databases error - what version of PT are you running (They recently switched the location of your .dbb files / Volumes information)

Latest version. 8.0.3, OSX 10.5.8. I'll try a database trash then, I'm not having much luck with the session file backups.

The databases are ALL now in

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Databases/Unicode/Volumes

Make sure Pro-Tools is NOT launched, and trash everything in that folder. IF you've still got "Digidesign Database" folders, on the root of ANY of your Hard Drives, they can be trashed too, PT doesn't use them anymore.

if that doesn't work, I'd manually trash ALL Pro-Tools Preference files, and Repair permissions on your OS X installation.

Let us know if this works.

Trashed all the databases, pre 8.0.3 ones on the individual drives and post 8.0.3 in the system drive library. It still isn't working.

Have the pro tools prefs moved too? I trashed the old User>Library>Preferences>com.digidesign.ProToolsHD .plist file but it didn't seem to create a new one when I relaunched.

Hi,

Have you tried with no plugins in the folder except stereo mixer.

Or load the session (with pro tools open) holding shift to disable all plugins

Never mind, I found em. Trashed them too and repaired permissions, still no joy. Any other thoughts?

Wow.. did you try Crizdee's suggestion, to see if it's a plugin shutting down on session close, that's causing you greif ?

just temporarily move your plugins (Except for the Stereomixer.dpm) to a temp holding folder on your desktop as Chrizdee suggests.

Ok, tried a track-by-track import instead and discovered structure was the culprit. Have managed to rebuild the session now. Thanks both for your help.
