Default affordable plug-ins

Hey all, I'm looking for some basic plug-ins that won't bust my budget. I'm going nuts with the digirack plugs, they just aren't very friendly. I'm looking for a paragraphic EQ, a compressor, and a limiter. A good reverb and delay would be nice too, but not necessary. Does anybody know of any good quality plug-ins that will fit my needs that aren't going to make me a pauper?

Also, I'm trying to use the digirack limiter, but it doesn't seem to be working how it should. According to my knowledge, wherever I set the threshold should stop the sound completely. That, as far as I know, is how a limiter works, unless i'm completely misinformed. But when I use it, it lets all kind of signal through. I have to put my threshold way down to -15 or -20 dB to get the level I want without clipping. What the heck is going on?

Thanks for the suggestions, y'all.
Still looking for a good EQ, if anybody has a tip, and if anyone knows anything about that digirack limiter, please let me know what's up!

I second Plugsound Free. It is a good plugin. Also try Sampletank Free. I use quite a while before purchasing the full version.

Check out the McDSP Filterbank (the demo is available here) As much as I believe in 'getting the sound at the source' etc, getting the Filterbank was the best PT investment I've ever made.
