Default Benefits?

I am currently using Toolbox XP (PTLE with AIII card). I have been taking studio beds and finalising the recordings, then taking them back to the studio for mixing etc. I have had some issues with clean sound on the vocals ie. slight hiss in the background. I realise that I need to 'deaden' the room, and tweak the tube pre amp etc. But here's my question: I have an outboard ART pro channel pre/comp/eq, 16 channel mixer all plugged into my system, would I have better recording quality with the digi 001 system or would it be negligibly better for the money spent? Is 18 bit AD conversion of the Audiomedia III card shadowed by the 24 bit AD converters on the 001?
I appreciate your feedback.

You may want to consider getting a Rosetta instead if you really want to improve the sound.

Yes, the sun shines cleaner and brighter in 24bit land for sure. Also, this answers part of Q.1 right?

Maybe consider the affordable 24bit ART DI/O for $199, and still use the AMIII for certain effects. Probably just getting Digi001 is best.
