Default Affordable Vox Mic

I am very new to the recording world and am looking for an affordable yet versitile (no more than $400) Mic for recording Vox for the following set up:

G4 450
001
OS 9.2.2.
PTLE 5.1.1

I'm assuming the pre's in the 001 aren't the best for vox, so I suppose I'm also in the market for a decent mic-pre as well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks DUC!

The Shure KSM27, AKG C3000, and Audio Technica AT4040.
All of these mics re in the $299 price range and all are good quality, just with differences in tone.
I have worked with all of these mics in professional situations.
for a little more you can get an AT4033, or a Rode NT2 and still come in under $400.
I wouldn't suggest going any "lower" though. Although there are some "good" mics under $300, it's kind of "hit or miss" with a lot of them.
All of the mics I listed are made well and are consistant in terms of production.

Hope that helps

I´m no expert, but i would consider the following:

Microphones:

AKG C2000 B
AKG C3000 B
Studio Projects C1

... and similar ones...

Mic-Pre:

Presonus TubePre
Studio Projects VTB1

... and similar ones...

The TubePre is pretty good, i have one.

I'd like to mention the Precision mics from AKG. I have the Precision 100, and it's really good for the price. The 200 has more features (a rolloff, pad, ect.) and a shockmount.

Mic for recording Vox (...) decent mic-pre as well
Buy an SPL GoldMike tube preamp, it's well worth it compared to 001 preamps. you can get better sound with SM58 via GoldMike than routing the BestMicMoneyCanBuy via 001 preamps. After that, if you still have the budget, buy the most expensive RODE large diagphram mic you can afford; NTK is nice, but NT1000 is good too.

(GoldMike v1 is cheap and analog only. v2 is more expensive but has digital output as well. Given that you have 001, you would benefit from the better converters of v2, but it adds significantly to the cost, so it might not be an option for you. But if you have a spare leg to sell, do it...)
