Default Dither or PowDither

What's the difference, am I using the wrong one? I have 2 Protools books, one told me to use dither(the cheaper one) and the other told me PowDither. Everything comes out sounding good but I always wanted to know what's the difference between the 2

From the DigiRack Plug-Ins Guide:
Quote:
Dither:
The Dither plug-in is designed for reducing
quantization noise when mixing or fading lowlevel
audio signals during word size reduction to
16-, 18-, or 20-bits.

POW-r dither:

The POW-r Dither plug-in is an advanced type
of dither that provides optimized word length
reduction. It is designed for final-stage critical
mixdown and mastering tasks where the highest
possible fidelity is desired when reducing bit
depth.
The difference is apparent in the descriptions. There is also more information on both in that guide.

It's installed as a PDF with the software, along with all of the other manuals.

On a PC they are available from the Windows Start menu under Digidesign->Documentation

On a mac they are under Applications->Digidesign->Documentation

(at least mine are)

Honnestly, I'm pretty sure you couldn't even hear the difference between the two anyway once your mix is dithered.

I tried to but I didn't know how, and the only reason it made that many thread was because I was on a [bleep] cpu and it froze, so I kept pressing continue. I did report it and ask someone to take it off, I'm always a good sport
