Questions About 1st Generation Mbox Preamps

I have searched the FAQ and the Answerbase for how much gain the Focurite preamps in the 1st generation Mbox have. I think I saw in a thread somewhere that a user thought it is ~ 55db, but I would like to officially confirm that.

How much gain do the preamps have?

Can they effectively push an EV RE20 for vocals without bringing up the noise floor from opening them completely up?

I've used the RE20 in the first generation Mbox quite a bit and never had problems. It's a clean, quiet preamp.
