Default Strange things are happening!

Here's a real strange one for you! I don't know if it's possible and I don't remember how it happened. I recorded a Dobro guitar track with a condenser mic to which I added a delay effect,(in the Aux track). I later decided that I didn't like the effect so I deleted it,(THE TRACK AND THE EFFECT). It wouldn't go away! So I deleted the entire track and re-recorded it dry. The old track with the delay effect was still there!! That is, when I play the new track the sound from the original track is still played back !
Does anyone out there know how this is possible? If so How can I correct it?
I would really appreciate any advice, Thanks.

Did you accidentally lock the clip by any chance?

Hi terry !

The only think i can think is that the old tracks are hidden somehow , maybe hit hide instead of delete ?! :-/ . Please check the track list on your left side of screen .

Thanks jeam25 for your attempt to help.
No to your response. I didin't freeze the track.
I'll double check my hidden tracks but if I remember, I believe I had deleted them. Is it at all possible that a deleted track could cause this?

Thanks but no. I don't freeze or lock the clips because I'm not sure of the ramifications of tdoing that and I'm not sure how to reinstate them to their original state.

Try creating a new session, use import session data to bring all the relevant tracks to the new session leaving all the possible problematic tracks behind.
