Default 1Ghz Powerbook G4s!

Whoa! With superdrive too!

Smile, digi002 Users, smile.

Now I'm really hoping this digi001.5 thing has some firewire.

Does it still ships with OS9 installed? I saw no mention of it on the site, but I guess they are supposed to do so until January...but being a new model so close to the deadline

from apple website "Both Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X are installed on your new PowerBook G4 (Mac OS X is the default boot-up operating system). Choose optional languages and keyboards other than the country default language, if needed."

So now I wonder if I should get the powerbook or go for the power mac like I was planning.

same here, I was about to get a refurb powermac dual 1gig (quicksilver) and now this. For those who recently purchased a Ti800, I feel for you! $3194???

Have you seen the prices on these?
Damn!
you can now get the new 867 for $2299
a 1 ghz for $2799
and holy crap, the newest badass 1ghz Ti w/ superdrive for $2999!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!

Sweet for us, but what a major screw for recent Ti buyers.

$300 extra for a DVD-R/CD-RW combo drive and 1Gb of RAM vs 512Mb is very impressive!

just to add a superdrive costs £170 for the towers, even with the double you're RAM for £40 offer it's still far better value than a superdrive equipped dual 867 or 1Ghz G4.

It's only £170 extra in the UK, they're not screwing us for a change

They all only have one firewire port - that is the myriad generations of Ti powerbooks and FW ibooks that is. It should work thru a hub without a hitch. I ordered a hub for that very reason, and will post results.

The 002 has two firewire ports on it in back, but digi cautions against using your FW hard drive attached to the 002 since if you power down it wont pass data, and you're at risk of disc corruption. I've done it that way with my Ti powerbook, and it does record fine.
