Default Here\'s how to setup a JLCooper Fadermaster professional for ptle

How to make a JLCooper Fadermaster Professional work with protools.

Setup Protools to work with the JLCooper CS-10, and assign 8 faders.

On the Fadermaster:

-Make sure it is not protected by pressing shift/null and the button above
the third fader. The display should read "Off". To change it to "Off", slide
one fader (doesnt matter wich one) while holding the shift/null and the
protect-button.

-Select a programmable bank by pressing the up button until it shows "P 1".

-Set it into fader programming mode by pressing the "prog" button until the
fader-led steadily lights. (If it blinks, you will program the foot-pedal
instead of the fader....)

-selectable parameters are: notes(No), continues controller(Co), program
change(pc), after-touch(at) and pitch bend(Pb).. Set the paramater by
pressing button #1 and sliding the fader you wish to change. This should be
set to continues-controller. Repeat this for each fader.

-press button #2 and assign a channel to each fader. this should be set at
16.

-press button #3 and assign a parameter number (64 for channel 1, 65 for
channel 2 etc.). This info can be found in the midi controller surface guide
by digidesitgn. It usualy is available from within ptle by choosing help.

-Exit the program mode by pressing the prog-button until no lights are on.

-Now you have to decide how to program the buttons. Or you can make seperate
programs to have them control mutes, solo's, transport control, or
fader-bank switching. Heck....you could even assign a fader as the
jog-wheel, though i can tell you it isnt that practical ;-). You can easely
calculate the Hexadecimal numbers used in the protools manual to decimal to
use with the fader-master by using the windows-calculator. If yoiu set it to
scientific, you can switch from hex to bin to oct.... Now you just have to
set the calculator in hex-mode, type in a hex-number like f0d, and set it
back to dec. and it gives you the decimal number back (3853).

-Lets program 2 buttons as right and left-cursors, so we can change banks.
That is change the faders that you will control with the fadermaster.

-buttons are programmed in the same manner as he faders, except that you
have to be in fader-mode. You will get there by pressing the prog buton
until button steadily lights.

- in the midi control surface guide you'll find that the left cursor switch
has 1Ch next to it. That's your hex-number. Type it in the calculator when
it is in hex-mode (and leave out the "h" because it is ment to tell you that
it is a hex-number, so type in 1C, press the Dec button, and it will show 28
for left, and 1Dh (29) for right.

- now for the programming: button #1 to "co", #2 to "16", #3 to 28 (thats
what you found in the guidebook), #4 to 0, #5 to 127, #6 to "---" i
think(you can switch to "---", fader and latch, just experiment whats the
one you need. The numbers i gave correspond with the buttons to press, the
number of the fader you move will assign it to a button, so mocing fader 1
while programming will affect button 1 and so on.

Ofcourse make sure you have a midi-cable running from the fadermasters
midi-out to your digi001 midi in (or some other midi-in connected to your
computer). If you have a Mac you also need to do something with OMS (you can
find that in the controller-guide too).

Hope this helps, and have fun with the fadermaster
