Default beat detection - pro tools update

i was watching a youtube video and the host said he was using a beat detection plugin that comes with it. im not wording this correctly but it was a plugin that seemed to come stock with protools. i noticed he was using a newer version of pro-tools. i am using pro tools le 7.3.1. are there any updates with added plugins for free download? or do i need to get plugins like this seperately? any help greatly appreciated! thanks

Beat Detective is not a "plug-in", you will find it under the Event menu. In v9 you get the multi-track version (meaning you can "collect" triggers that are detected on multiple tracks together, i.e. find triggers on Kick, then find the triggers on Snare and add them to what you found on the Kick, etc.), but you have the single track version built into your version.

You're best bet would be to buy PT 9, and do a complete install. Make sure your computer is compatible with the new software. PT 9 will only work with Intel based macs. So research it thoroughly before spending your money.
