Default New build specs - Your input please!

I'm about to embark on a long overdue new build. Can anyone see any issues with this?

I've done my best to maximize what I can afford (I can't really afford it) and hopefully they are compatible parts.

- Intel Core i9 14900K 24 Core LGA 1700 CPU Processor
- Gigabyte B760 Aorus Elite AX LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard
- Corsair Vengeance 64GB (2x32GB) C40 5200MHz DDR5 DRAM
- Samsung 980 1TB PCIe Gen3 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD
- Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB TG Mid Tower ATX Case - Black
- Corsair H100 RGB 240mm AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
- Corsair 850W RM850e 80+ Gold Power Supply

I did almost no research on the power supply or cooler because I'd had enough by then!

I'll be keeping my current SSDs as they are okay.

I'm hoping my existing video card will be okay - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti

Any help, feedback, ideas would be much appreciated!

I didn't check the compatibility of the parts, but that looks like a solid build you put together.

As for the power supply, I think you will be fine. The processor will run less than 300 watts under load, so that leaves you enough room for the other peripherals.

Your video card should be fine as well. PT isn't really heavy on graphics and that card should be okay. I'm assuming you are using whatever monitors you had before and aren't looking for higher resolutions.

If you haven't done so already, you should be able to find memory compatibility on the Gigabyte site.

Looks pretty good to me and quite similar to one I just had built. Once you have it, do a clean install of all your programs and plugins. It takes longer, but sure is worth it!

I didn't see a graphics card on your parts list? As to saving money, you could drop to 32GB of RAM and a 500GB NVMe drive(as long as you keep sample libraries on their own drive). I've been running 500GB system drives for over 10 years, and 32GB is plenty of RAM if you aren't going to be running tons of instrument plugins

With that CPU/RAM, you can skip the GPU and use iGPU only, especially if you monitor at 1080P. Also, Pro Tools is NOT overly demanding of graphics, like video renders or gaming. The iGPU can even run multiple monitors. The last couple generations of iGPUs have gotten big upgrades.

Just to reemphasize, including to others building systems, (and I did not look at the list so you may be OK already), but try to use the exact make/model DIMMs qualified by the motherboard vendor. Don't assume similar spec DIMMs will work, and don't mix and match different DIMMs even of the same specs. Follow the Motherboard vendor qualification specs exactly.

It's amazing modern DRAMs work at all, there is so much going on under the covers, and so many problems can end up being related to DRAM. DRAM passing POST or other tests is not really that good a guarantee the memory is OK. The work the mother board vendors do here is pretty impressive, try to leverage that.

Thanks, yes, I will put the onboard GPU through it's paces before I decide if I need to use the old one.

Thanks. Yes, I did check that they are compatible so hopefully everything will be good!

Cool. Let us know how iGPU works out for you. Good luck with the build!
