Combining two different tempo maps

is it possible to combine tempo maps from two different sessions? I'm trying to assemble an orchestral piece into one file from two different files and its important to keep the tempo maps intact...

Just disregard the steps you don't need.

• select all imported tracks and rulers, and hit Command+A
• cut this (X)
• session should now be blank

• select all tracks and rulers again, this time from both song 1 and song 2, and cut this
• session should now be blank once more
• continue on importing session data from song 3

I'm sure all PT wizards are doing their evil laugh just about now, but this method has worked perfectly for me.
