Default OT: Monitor Setting Weirdness

Hi all, hoping someone can help.
Have a 733 G4 on 9.2.2 that has gone all wacky on me.
It's my drag around setup for stuff outside my studio.
When I hit the power button and let it start on it's own,
it defaults to 640x480 with a 67hz refresh rate.
Just horrid to look at.
And in the monitor control panel there are NO other options.
But if I start up and zap the PRAM,
it starts up with my 1024x768 85hz setting.
And all available options show up in the control panel.
I just HATE having to zap it EVERYTIME I start up.
I changed the battery on the board.
That did nothing.
So if anyone has any ideas how to solve this,
I would be eternally grateful!

Have you tried rebuilding the desktop, or using some kind of disk repair utility like Disk Warrior or Norton?
This has happened to me every now and then when using OS X- for no apparent reason, my computer starts up with a weird monitor setting. It hasn't done it in a while, but it's always kind of strange...
I know you're using OS 9.2.2, but perhaps one of these things will fix it?

Best,
Andrew

Thanks for the response!
I tried rebuilding the desktop and no luck.
This is driving me nuts.

When you changed the battery, did you hit the reset button on the board? It's been called various things over the years, but from what I gather, it can help in this situation.

Just a shot in the dark here.

I hit the reset button.
No luck.
It just asked me to reset my clock.
I have noticed something else however.
When I start up, there is no chime.
Unless I zap the PRAM.
