Unlink Record and Play Fader no longer working

Either I am losing my mind or unchecking the "Link Record and Play Fader" is no longer working.
I am in PT HD 12.4, I know this used to work but no matter what I do the record and play faders stay linked.

Can anyone else confirm this to be user error or a bug please?

just after posting I realized this is only an issue on VI tracks, audio tracks work fine.

So is this simply not available in VI tracks?

I'm a little fuzzy on Instrument tracks, but if I understand them correctly, they are essentially a MIDI Track bundled to an Aux Input track. As such, there is no way to actually record audio on them like you can on an Audio Track, and this might be why they behave differently.

true, but it's still playback vs record. I would think that they'd act the same...

Hadn't had to try a VI since they implemented this in Native. Tried it last week, definitely unlinked. Didn't bother trying on an audio track, didn't occur to me that that may be the case. But yes, unlinking not working for me here on 12.4 native, OS 10.10.5.
