Default Why do Pro Tools sessions always open to far left channel position?

My signature has all of my system and Pro Tools versions.

Why do Pro Tools Sessions always Open to the beginning of the session?

When ever I open a Pro Tools session, it immediately moves to the most far left channel position, no matter if I saved the session in the far right region. Why does this happen and how can I stop it. Also, If I have a session open and the session Mix View is far right by the Master Channel, if I change to the Finder and then back to Pro Tools, the sessions jumps to the far left position again.

Put another way. If a Pro Tools Session is 5 minutes long, and when I stop mixing for the day my cursor was at 3 minutes and saved that way. The next time I open the Session, it always jumps to the beginning of the session.

Driving me crazy. Any ideas how to stop this action? Thanks.

As regards the last issue, see if saving with "playback follows insertion" enabled helps.
Or doing just the opposite, make a selection and see if it remembers upon opening.

Maybe the other "follow" settings might be a factor too? Dynamic transport?
Not positive on that. Just some thoughts.
Someone who knows more about saved configurations might have the answer.

As far as the first issue, I haven't experienced this or just haven't noticed it . But do know frustrating things can happen.

Thanks . . . I'll give these a try. A similar thing also happens in Mix View. If I have scrolled right to say the Master fader, select the Master fader so the name is high lighted, save the session, close the session and then open the session, Mix View defaults to the most far left channel? It's crazy.

I find it interesting someone asked this. I have never questioned why my computer starts with cursor at 1,1 position (top left). Maybe there should be a way to save the window configuration on session level.

I suspect something on your system is inadvertently triggering the Return key which is causing the cursor to go to the head (far left) of the session.

Couldn't repro on my Windows setup.
The cursor maintains it's position regardless of the settings I mentioned and mix view opens with far right in view when I save it that way.
I should mention I'm currently using 2022.7.

Not sure what it could be on your end but hope you can figure it out.

Thanks for trying to reproduce this issue on your Windows system. I am still looking for an answer for Mac. Thanks again.

I think take77 might have the solution. My sessions always open and play from exactly where they were saved(not at my rig right now so can't check that setting)

Hi Dave,
Turns out none of the settings I mentioned had any effect on the cursor position and the sessions still opened as I left them.
Disregard all on that.
I was happy things saved as I left them but was hoping to discover something for the OP.

Are you using any control surfaces or Avid Control? I would try disconnecting *all* peripherals except wired keyboard and seeing if it changes - as is probably clear now, that's not normal behavior.
