8.01 Surround Track File select Bug ? Feature ?

Ok so in PT 8.0.0 Cs1-Cs3 with a 5.1 surround (6 file) sound file in the region bin, I could select only the .L & .R of the 5.1 file in the region bin & drop it on a stereo track.. now with 8.01 when I select the .L & .R sound file i cannot drop them on a stereo track.. I must first drop all 6 5.1 tracks onto 6 mono tracks & then select .L & . R from their respectivce tracks & move them to a stereo track.. what gives ? is this a preference somewhere ?
