Default How to upgrade old M Box to LE 8 on Intel Macbook?

Hello. I have an old M Box USB that I'd like to use with my Macbook 2.4G Intel Duo. The LE 5.0.1 software (later upgraded to LE 6.9) was originally installed on my old laptop which has since bit the big green weenie. I still have the original disks but they won't run on my Intel Macbook, of course.

So how do I upgrade to LE 8 if I can't install the original software? When one buys the upgrade does one get the whole software package or just an upgrade which would need to have the old software installed first?

BTW, I have heard that the old M Box won't work with LE 8 yet in the compatibility grid it says that it will? Anybody using the original M Box with LE 8?

Thanks!

First, what version of OSX are you using? Very important for use with the original MBox, as it WILL NOT be qualified for use with the latest OSX build, Snow Leopard. (10.6)

Second, the original MBox maintains support up until the very last build of 8.0.1. This includes any CS updates, meaning the new 8.0.1cs1 update should allow continued use of the interface. So as long as you don't upgrade past 10.5.x or 8.0.1x, you should still have use of it.

Finally, all first point builds (at least in my experience) have been FULL releases of the software. Meaning, 7.0, 7.1, 7.3, 7.4, 8.0, etc, etc, are all complete builds of the software, and it's usually better to uninstall previous versions first. So yes, you can buy 8.0 and not have a previous version installed.

Great! That's what I wanted to know. So, I'll make sure to get 8.0 and I should be golden. The Intel Mac book is running 10.5.8 and I'll just stay there with 8.0.1. I'm thinking of upgrading my HD to 8 and it sounds like I'll have the same situation. 8 will be the end of the line for me.

Thanks!!
