Proper order of DSP vs native plugins?
I've searched a lot but haven't seen a definitive answer to the most efficient way to mix dsp and native plugins. Does anyone have this information please?

Re: Proper order of DSP vs native plugins?
I may not be the last word on this, but I have read that when mixing plugin types, you must use a DSP plugin first so that Delay Compensation will work correctly. After that, knowing that going from a DSP to a Native plugin will eat a voice(or is it 2?), its likely best practice to try to put all DSP in front of all Native. If anyone knows otherwise, please correct me

Re: Proper order of DSP vs native plugins?
The architecture is DSP first and native second in the mixer is seem to remember as stated above.
I recall there are good reasons to put the plugins in that order. I'm pretty sure it is buried in some thread somewhere. Stephen

Re: Proper order of DSP vs native plugins?
This thread got me curious. FWIW, Page 1124 of the current Pro Tools Reference Guide says:
Ordering Recommendations When combining Native and DSP plug-ins on a track, use one of the following strategies based on your recording needs: - To ensure that Native plug-ins stay active when you record enable a track or use TrackInput monitoring, order all DSP plug-ins before Native plug-ins. - To conserve voices and minimize processing latency, order all Native plug-ins before DSP plug-ins. That whole page is worth a read. I've always placed my AAX plugins before DSP, in order to minimize latency. But the other way makes sense depending what plugins you need active while recording. Cheers,
