I have a gateway p3 866 w/512mb pc 133 ram. Is there any reason I wouldnt be able to replace the mobo with a fancy new one from Allens list with an Athlon xp(whatever the fastest chip is)and still use my ram and burner/rom etc ?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Buddy,
The only problem I've run into is that most of the time these computers have modified cases for their modified motherboards. YOu will probably need a better PSU anyways, so I'd just get a new case too. Everything should transfer fine except the floppy and ram. Some floppies are modded for the case but they are cheap anyways. The ram has to be DDR ram and I would think you are still running SDRAM. Maybe not though. If you don't have DDR it is cheap now anyways. Jump on it while the prices have dropped.
I'd definitely recommend doing a reformat of the system drive and full install of WinXP on the new motherboard.
