Default digi 002 1-4 input gain

When I plug in a mic with a xlr cable on mic inputs 1-4 with the course gain turned completely down I'm still getting a signal. It's too loud and when I'm recording something with a loud signal, its peaking. I'm used to the digi 001 not picking up any sound when the gain is turned completely off. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Make sure you have the switch on the back selected correctly (mic 0r line)
If sounds like you have line selected instead of mic.

Good Luck

That's not physically or electronically possible with either unit.

See the other thread.

Indeed. That's what I'm saying; that's how it works. Fully counter-clockwise is NOT off, it's minimum gain. Minimum gain is not off, it's minimum gain. If the input signal is low enough, it's possible for it to be set at minimum gain and not be audible, but there would still be signal getting through. That's how it's wired.

I agree; two of the same ridiculous posts in the same week can't be a coincidence.
It's either andrew messing with us, or the original poster of the other thread who still can't accept the answer.

Then why did you say that?

If im recording something with a big signal using an input 1-4 preamp I cant stop it from peaking, why would anyone wire something that way?

OH Please...
It worked once , repeating would be childish and boring..

dashlogan > If your(mic)input signal is very hot, try using inline pads.

Hi there,

If you have a moment, would you mind telling me how to install/use this 'inline pad' you mentioned, I am also having a great deal of trouble with peaking when recording.

many thanks

charlie
