Re: PT10.3.4 freezes computer
Could be the integrated graphics. Could be some tweak is missed to make it work with Windows 8. At the very least, I would save a backup drive image and update to 10.3.7 and cross your fingers. Next step(for me anyway) would be to add a modest graphics card(nVidia 610 maybe) and disable the onboard graphics.

Re: PT10.3.4 freezes computer
thanks albee.
why do you suspect the integrated graphics? before the problem started, it worked fine with it. I recently upgraded to win 8.1. It might be the cause for it. would a re-install of PT might help? |

Re: PT10.3.4 freezes computer
Hmm, hard to say, but the update is certainly suspect. I never update ANYTHING without first saving a drive image, so I can get back to a working setup. The fact that it worked before is good news, but I am at a loss on how to proceed. Reinstalling PT is worth a shot

Re: PT10.3.4 freezes computer
I was foolish enough not to save a drive image
Thanks for trying to help. I hope I would be able to solve this. |

Re: PT10.3.4 freezes computer
I would run the windows memory tester and a system stress test like prime 95 to make sure it is a Pro Tools problem.
Run a DPC latency checker, high DPC latency can hang PT. I don't think Win 8.1 is supported yet so that's a whole different set of problems, live tiles etc.
