Default HD Native Card

OK I think I know the answer but need to verify this. The Venue will interface with an HD native card via the HDx card in the FOH rack so we can run virtual soundcheck and give those files to the recording engineer to mix down on his PT stuff at the studio

Yep. a HD Native card is a bit like a HD2 system - it has 2 HD link connections (each supporting 32/32 channels) which connect to your Venue's 2 * HD links on your HDx card.

Also, a question along these lines...will a system only support one HD native card?

1 Native card i'm afraid.

I suspect an arbitary (not technical) limitation to keep a place in the market for TDM (HD Non-Native? :)). If you want 128 inputs with PTHD, you have to buy TDM cards...

Is this also the case with a MADI interface? Is it possible to connect two MADI cards in the console to a computer running protools with two RME MADI cards?

Hi Nicolas,

It's possible to use 2 x HD MADI interfaces to achieve 128 simultaneous tracks. For ASIO devices under PT9 the max is 32 simultaneous.
