can i take my PCI card from a 7100 and use it in a G3?

SO can I? I have a older PPC 7100 and i'm getting a G3 soon, so is it possible to take this card out and use it for the G3? and can I still use my 882 I/O for work with Logic Audio?

No, the 7100 is nubus-- you need new cards and a new audio interface for the PCI G3 models.

Uno1234 is correct about NuBus cards not working in PCI machines like the G3.

If what you have is a Pro Tools Project NuBus card, you can do a hardware exchange for a Pro Tools|24 or MIX core.

The 882 will work with Pro Tools|24 systems by changing the NuBus cable for a PCI peripheral cable. (the larger 882 Studio interface will not work with PCI hardware) Either 882 model can be exchanged for an 882/20 or an 888/24 if you want better converters.

You can purchase any hardware upgrade through your dealer, but you may want to talk to a product specialist first to determine exactly what you have and what would best suit your needs, as well as which exchange options are available to you.

You could also look for a used Pro Tools Project PCI card on the used market.

Or you could get an AMIII card or Digi 001, both of which work with Logic Audio, and sell your older system or keep it as a second system.
