Re: Extending Firewire cable via FWx for a broadcast sweet - Running into problems
I have never used that particular Kramer Box with the Venue so i cant say anything 100%.
However, it does operate at the full 400Mbit speed you need and supports all implementations of 1394a and 1394b so i don't see why it wont. Why not get a demo from Kramer? Edit: Yes, an 800 to 400 cable adapter should be fine. FW800 is designed to be fully backward compatible with FW400 |

Re: Extending Firewire cable via FWx for a broadcast sweet - Running into problems
Just reading this...sorry for a late reply:)
Can you leave the protools computer right next to the SC-48 and then Screen Share (VNC) into that MAC and control from anywhere?? Just pull cat5e to the remote computer with stereo audio, and run the mac from the other room. Alternatively, how about a geffen KVM extender. All you want to do is listen in isolation and control Protools. It doesn't matter where the Mac is, just that you can drive it and hear it. I would NEVER consider extending firewire with data. Nearly all firewire extending products are primarily designed for video. Email me if you want to discuss further, [email protected] (not trolling for a gig, just trying to help!!) |
