Default Beware The CPU Throttling

I have an Intel motherboard 945PVS w/ a Pentium D940 dual core 3.2Mhz CPU... one of the features of these CPUs is that they will throttle CPU when they get too hot...

I've had very poor performance over the last few months and have been totally baffled and stressed by it... quite by chance I checked the CPU temp in the bios - it was 110C... even I knew this is way out of spec so I downloaded throttlewatch.exe from www.panopsys.com and my CPU was almost 100% throttled... I cleaned out all the dust in my CPU fan and turned on the front case fan and the temp went to 52C... and stayed there... once up and running again the throttling was 0%...

Who would have guessed it was a thermal problem I was having...

Default Re: Beware The CPU Throttling

Thats when the mobo or processor reduces the clock speed because its to hot. Very common with the older pentium based products.
