MBox Pro 3G-no output/input one day after 1.1.2

Anyone,
2 days ago the MBox Pro 3G, one year and one month old, suddenly stopped the output and inputs. Control Panel looked normal with I/O detected and the bottom left said streaming. The MBox Pro 3 blue light was steady; but, otherwise completely dead. This happened suddenly after a day of working normally, with no change in the cp or connections. There was a Mountain Lion update that morning to 10.8.2 though; and, updated MBox drivers to 1.1.2 two days previously.
I installed drivers 1.1.2 a few previously, and all seemed to work better under Mountain Lion 2011 iMac 12,2. The sound would constantly go distorted, and deselecting re-selectin, usually, fixed, or turn off/on routine.
This time nothing… uninstalled and reinstalled the 1.1.2 drivers… nothing. Deleted PT prefs using “ProTools Pref and Database Helper.app”… nothing. Disconnected everything and using a new FW cable directly to iMac… nothing.
At this point I decided the unit had gone south. So, made arrangements for repair; but, they exchange only for factory refurbished units. Anyone have experience with this?
Yesterday morning, I tried one more time after unit was disconnected all night. Now, all works as normal as can be.
Anyone know what is going on here? Is there protection circuitry that was somehow tripped, or, is there a problem with the new 1.1.2 drivers.
One thing I have read here, is to uninstall previous drivers. Well, I have never done that when updating to new version; but, then AVID does not do this during installation? Is there a path location to where they are located to check this out. I looked all over in Library, and found nothing obvious.
Any help here would be appreciated.
