2022.9 Can't grab MIDI notes

It seems a lot better than in prior versions. But I ran into it twice, working 10-12 hour writing days (new sessions, based on my template) every day since Thursday. Only twice. Clicked the 2 tracks into "Samples", changed my velocities, switched it back to Ticks. All good.

But not totally fixed. Kinda sad.

I've just run into this, trying to covert audio into MIDI by dragging down onto an instrument track. Also occurs if you use the Massey DRT to do the same thing. A close and re-open seems to sort it. Does it on both my computers. (I'm on Mojave on both)

I solved it by switching to Logic for MIDI work. Never going back.

Have you tried running both with Aux I/O going into PT? Just curious.

No, so far, I've only used Aux I/O for integrating Zoom with PT.

yes the changing from ticks to samples worked. I have tried the AuxI/O with ableton running in ableton link. So great to be able to bounce ableton sessions right into protools.

Most recently, I created a brand new session after re-installing 2022.9.
The first thing I did was drag & drop a MIDI drum loop onto a track.
Double clicked the clip to open the MIDI editor and the notes were frozen right off.

Glad for the ability to change to sample mode but unbelievable timing that it happened right after re-installing 2022.9.
It never happened right away like that during the previous install until I went back to .7 momentarily to test another issue.

I've since deleted the prefs folder in Windows hoping that would help me with a couple other separate issues.

I'm starting to view switching to sample mode as an edit option like momentarily switching between Slip & Grid mode as a workflow instead of a bug.

I'll do some more tests (try to work as normal that is) in the new session tonight and let you know how it goes.

In 2022.10 - I'm still running into this bug with selecting MIDI notes. It happened today in a session where I used the "audio to midi" function. Every time I would use that, the resulting MIDI clip's notes would be frozen.

I'll have to try the workaround by switching to sample mode and back. I also found that if I consolidate the clip, it works great.

I'd love to see Avid fix the root issue of this problem though!

I've been working a ton in MIDI and I have not seen any issues in 2022.9-2022.10 until today.

When this issue happened today, I couldn't fix it from switching time/sample based on the track. I restarted the session and even then still had some issues, but somehow it started working again.

I do really hope they find the root of this problem as this one is a very frustrating one when it happens.
