CPU usage in task manager may be 100% which is fine. CPU in Protools System Usage meter at 100% is not good. Which meter are you referring to? Are you having any problems?

How fast is the CPU? How much RAM does it have?

Welcome to the DUC.

I'm runnin a dell i9100 with no problems. Have you done all the proper tweaks, and turned off all network cards ,and modems etc. Plus what are your system specs. This would help alot, but as far as the 8600 is concerned you should have no problems running pt 6.4 on a 8600. I was considering the 8600 at one point in time, but then I decided on the 9100 for the simple fact that I didn't care about the weight, nor battery life.

Try to open the CPU usage window inside pro tools and see what it says.
