Default Building a desk top pc to run Protools

I want to build a desktop pc to run Protools. I want to be able to record bands, run multiple plugins on each channels, use a bunch of vst's and not have any type of issues. I would like the capabilities of running 100 or more tracks with plugins on each channel along with multiple vsts. Where would I start in building this pc. I need some help.

start with the i7 build thread http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=238426

remember Pro Tools doesn't support VSTs, you 'll need a 3rd party host for that

Also, on PT 10, you will start hitting limitations far earlier than you would if you upgrade to PT 11.

With PT 10, you will only be able to use a bit less than 4 GB of RAM, and Windows will take part of that memory. With PT 11, the limit is huge...machines using 128 GB are readily available (albeit pricey!)

Also, if by "VST" you are actually referring to "VI", or virtual instruments, you will hit the wall very quickly.

Right now, you can upgrade from PT 10 to PT 11 (and PT 12 when it's released) for $199.00. If you're seriously planning to do sessions as demanding as you mentioned, I would strongly suggest you upgrade PT when you're upgrading your machine...

I do not work for Avid (their loss)...my only relationship with Avid is that of a customer (when I'm not too poor to buy stuff, like now)...and that hot administrative assistant...that's more of a "thing" than a "relationship" (that should keep them guessing for a while...)

Just rockin'...what more is there?
