Default How many of you record @ 96k?

How stressful is it on your G5's, plugin count, etc?

Please share.

Thanks.

I'm using a G4 (AGP) with a dual1.8ghz G4 processor in it and I will say that recording at 96k sounds great but it is VERY hard on my machine. I got one Ren Reverb and 3 ren eqs, plus a MC2000 on the mix and that was it! Only about 18 tracks of cello, upright bass, and drums. Recorded on an HD system, it sounded really, much better than 48k but man, is it hard on the machine. I'm actually finally going to upgrade to an HD system because the sound is so much better. I found a used HD1 with the 96 interface used and the price was so close to a new G5 setup that with all the other enhancements (delay comp, fulll beat detective, ect.) that I decided it's time to go HD. Try it and you'll love it, but beware of the consequences

Eli,

Thanks for the response. I'm in the same position as you regarding purchasing an HD1 system. Although I will wait for PT7 to be released and see how its processors will work @96k. How many tracks can one get with a HD1 set-up at 96k. Will it be at least 48?

Thanks...
