Firewire question... 002R + firewire drive?

Hi guys,

I have a macbook with a 002R and I want to record onto my firewire external drive.
But, the macbook only has one firewire input.
I need one for the 002R.. so how do I connect the firewire drive?
I don't think firewire hubs exist.

I can daisy chain them...

I think it should go:

MAC -> Hard Drive -> 002R


or it could be:

MAC -> 002R -> Hard Drive.


I'm pretty sure its the first option, but hopefully someone else will post with confirmation!

I think Jim's first option above is the better one. Not least as it avoids potential problems re unmounting the HD before powering-down the 002.
