I see, I am going to do some research online and speak to apple about the items you mentioned above. I very much appreciate your answers. This issue has been so frustrating and even left me intimidated to use PT.

If your MacBook Pro is a more current model, then yes. Looking at the specs, you may have the Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro. Is this correct?

To be clear, you do not need an SSD to run Pro Tools BUT it is highly recommended.

If you're looking for an alternative for a second (Recording) drive and/or a replacement internal drive as well (2 separate drives). I would recommend to you the Western Digital Black (Caviar)

These drives are favored as much as SSD's here on the DUC and do well for recording and as OS drives.

There are other lines of Western Digital that you should stay away from:
WD Green. These eco drives do not fair well with Pro Tools.

I am unsure about the WD Reds and Purples. The WD Blue are okay, I've used them a lot back when I was on Windows
