Default Can\'t create more than one midi track

I am using Pro Tools LE with OS X and I am working on my first session. I recorded some midi tracks with no problem and then tried to open a new patch name file for a midi track..

Then Pro Tools shut down and I lost the parts of the session that I hadn't saved. I tried to open the session again, but now every time I try, the session starts to open and then Pro Tools shuts down before it opens fully.

So I decided to start over from scratch, but now every time I try to create more than one midi track, in any session, Pro Tools shuts down again.

What did I do wrong? Has anyone seen a similar problem?

I downloaded the 6.01 upgrade but it didn't fix the problem.

Please help me.

Think I had a similar problem. Your AMS preference file is likely corrupted.

Open the AMS (audio MIDI setup by going to Setups -> Edit MIDI Studio Setup... in PT6.

Remove the devices which you created and set them up from scratch again.

Relaunch PT6 and it should be OK.

Unfortunately, as soon as you try to load the patches that you had loaded before, you'll probably have the same problem. I'm not sure if this is the cause of a bad .midnam file (the XML files that load the patch names for devices) or some other bug. Did you use one of the DIGI supplied .midnam files or create your own?

Yep, that was it. Thanks a lot. I think the files I used were from the mac os. I picked an instrument from the list and then changed the properties and recorded with it. I guess that threw off pro tools. That kind of problem makes me feel like pro tools isn't as stable as I had hoped. At least I got it taken care of though. Thanks again.
