Default Help me not screw this up....

Helping a buddy upgrade and I'm a little unclear on a couple things....

He has PT Native system running PT HD 12.8.3 with a PT Ultimate support plan expired in 2018.

We would like to move to a subscription and take advantage of the current 50% off offer.

Questions:

Can he use the current DigiLink IO license on the iLok or will that be surrendered?
Is a DigiLink IO license tied to the PT HD/Ultimate license in any way?

The DigiLink license was supplied with the HD IO interface he bought with the PT Native system back in 2013.

Bottom line: If I tell him to just go and buy the PT subscription, are we good to go? We can't afford any snags with the DigiLink license.

THANKS!!!!!

Thanks, but this is from Avid Knowledge base:

Note: Pro Tools DigiLink I/O is NOT included with Pro Tools Ultimate Software-only purchases or subscriptions, nor is it included with HDX or HD Native Core systems which do not include Avid HD interfaces.

So I just want to make sure we can use the DigiLink IO license that he currently has on the iLok(with the new subscription)

He will need the subscription to be for ULTIMATE Pro Tools(even with a digilink license, HD hardware only works with HD or Ultimate software). AFAIK, the Digilink license never expires(a quick look in iLok manager will show that). Just to be certain, you might list all the hardware, computer details and OS in case something there could cause problems

I think that Digilink license will continue working. Glad you're already hip to the OS situation
