Which as you know is different than repair permissions. Repair disk helps out if/when Finder has trouble finding things, etc. You know - directory troubles and such like can happen on Windoze.

Jason,
I did try repairing disk. Didn't seem to fix anything. Although, as I said,
everything seems mysteriously fine now.

May I suggest this is a great time to BACKUP that drive?!

Never fly without backup. Even if you don't have problems now you will sooner or later and that backup will be golden.
