hi barry,

I have a MBP 17" i7 which is their most recent model and PT:LE 8 runs like a charm. I'm running 8.0.4 and haven't encountered any problems. I'm using LE for film work for the most part, so being able to handle a video file and numerous tracks with effects inserts is important, and so far everything I've thrown at it has been fine. I was apprehensive initially in getting this MBP but compared with the first gen MBP I was using just prior, this thing is a total beast.
Some advice though, disabling dashboard and having any extraneous apps shut greatly helps out the system. The only stumbles I've encountered is the video freezing, which is always fixed by restarting protools. No biggie. This might be helped by going with the highest RAM option, which I skimped on in order for a better hdd, antiglare screen and processor. You can always add more RAM later! Hope this helps!
