Is it an M box or an 001? Those are two totally separate devices.

Assuming it's really an Mbox, do you have "line" or "mic" selected on your Mbox? Is it a phantom powered mic, and if so, did you turn on phantom power?

Bad mic cable? Have you tried another source? Turn up the input level on the M box?

"Check the simple stuff first." Try another mic cable. And/or another mic. (Some cheap mics have a 1/4" plug on them, and you won't get any phantom power there. GOTTA use the XLR input.) Or feed something into one of the LINE inputs and see if is shows up.
(Making sure you press the mic/line in buttons on the Mbox so it's on line in).

I played something in through the line inputs from a turntable/mixer and i barley, barely hear something, its really low, it also sounds a bit scratchy/distorted.
