Default fader problem on digi 002

I've recently had a shutdown of my digi002. First, while working in protools mode, the faders stopped responding. A message came up suggesting that I call digi support. I thought i'd ignore that and quit protools, shut off the 002 and restart. When i turned the 002 back on, the only thing the scribble strips displayed was dots "...". Digidesign says it's due to a faulty cable and that others are having the problem as well. They are currently sending me a new cable (pwr sup) but i'm curious about anyone else's take on this situation. Other than that the 002 has been rock solid.
thanks.

Unfortunately, there have been many, many, MANY posts about these faulty power supply cables. Be sure to read any installation instructions and note how the cable polarity runs, BEFORE you pull out the defective cable. I guess its not a hard job to do, but if the polarity is wrong it will fry your 002.

How old is your 002? I just got one a few weeks ago, and have my fingers crossed that this will be one of the "lucky few" that don't need this power cable fix. I'm diggin' that 002, btw.

Dave

Hey, Dave. Thanks for the info.
I bought my 002 last February and it has performed flawlessly until now.
I wish i'd bought it later because of the bundle.
