Just had this kill 8 hours of work for one of our engineers. Unreal. Happened this march as well, losing several hours of work.

I was reading these posts from a few years ago trying to find a solution to a similar issue. All my project's files (songs) When I highlight the title's track it says corrupted. When I download it it keeps saying waiting to download. Btw, I have a paid subscription (Studio) and an Avid cloud acct., with 36% of usage so far.

How can I fix this issue?

Sorry to semi-revive this, but I just experienced something very similar. In my case, it was a session created from an AAF generated from Davinci Resolve Studio 18. Lost an all-nighter's worth of work on it. Not the end of the world by itself, but I suspect I won't be getting work from this client again.

Here's a new one for you folks...
I haven't had this bug in a few years now, thank F..king god, but I had noticed recently after updated to Monterey and Pro Tools 2024.6 Ultimate my system drive was losing space fast. Welp, I checked the Avid Logs folder and there were log files as large as 6GB! Several around 4-5 GB. These were being created by the digi options "tracer" file in my applications folder that I forgot was even there from ..2019! Jesus Christ. Anyhow, I have a thread with Avid on this to see what the hell happened, if THIS bug was ever fixed (I somehow doubt it) and if there's any reason to keep that tracer file.

Good luck and I'll report back...yikes....

I removed the tracer file with the last computer upgrade. I have seen this only once in last few years, I don't think it is fixed though, but I guess other variables have changed by now it's not a big issue anymore.
The tracer option didn't prevent it from happening anyway and I don't need it to notice my session is suddenly half empty.

Same, Avid support told me the main bug from this thread was fixed in a 2022 release of Pro Tools-so I would definitely recommend updating if anyone is on an older version:

Also, Avid sent me this walk through to stop the tracer from running. Simply deleting it from my applications folder didn't stop it from making massive .txt logs.

Hi Mike,

You will need to remove the line from the config file inside the Pro Tools app bundle (and make sure there's not a second config file next to the app that might have that line in it – this is unlikely.)

> Quit Pro Tools
> In your Applications folder, right-click on the Pro Tools Application and select "Show Package Contents"
> Navigate to:
ProTools.app/Contents/Resources/config.digitrace

> Open the file with the TextEdit App
> Do a 'COMMAND' + 'F' search for:

DTF_ASSERTHANDLER=file@DTP_LOW

> Remove this line (or add a # in front of it to disable it)

Best Regards,
Nicko
