Fix those 2 things. THEN get back to me. I'll even be appreciative and nice about it, too.

I wonder if Avid will change it back. My vote is yes but my guess is they could care less. Maybe some of the big studios will complain as well? I can't imagine people switching back and forth between systems (as pointed out earlier in the thread) will be too happy.

Whose brilliant idea was this? I thought Avid was starting to "listen to their customers"? Who did they listen to on this? Not anyone who actually uses Pro Tools apparently.
How many Beta testers did Avid use to create this version?

Considering how many bugs keep happening with every release, either Avid has some lame beta testers, or they just do not listen to the feedback. Most likely it's the latter scenario. its mind boggling how some of this stuff keeps slipping through. This particular issue isn't a bug but an oversight. It should have been a preference.

Exactly! A beta tester can only report what they find. They cannot implement the code to fix the bugs. It's up to the development team which bugs are important and which ones get put on the back burner.

It might just be me missing the point. But why can't they first focus on fixing the "couple" things that have been pointed as working less than optimally... I would prefer they wouldn't mess unecessarily with the parts of code that are working relatively reliably.

All boils down to what they feel are the biggest priorities. The hard part about it is that different users have different workflows, and as such different priorities. The developers have to decide which are more important to fix in a given time frame and which ones get skipped. It sucks. But then there are also things that do just get missed in testing. With so many hardware and software configurations and so many different workflows, it's common for things that we might find so obvious to be missed in testing.
