Help! Running Pro Tools on Imac
To everyone much wiser than myself,
I am looking into purchasing the 21.5 inch iMac with the 2.7 ghz. 4gb, 1tb serial ata drive . ect....in the near future , so basically the standard mac without any added memory or increased hard drive. I just need to know if that is adequate for recording multiple tracks, and if not what is needed to run the program efficiently. Thanks a bunch, Rob |

Re: Help! Running Pro Tools on Imac
That should be fine and you can do a lot with it.
However, you will most likely have problems if you don't use a separate drive to record your audio to. It has nothing to do with how powerful the computer is, it's just that Protools pretty much requires recording to a separate hard drive and recording to the computers' own system drive is not supported. Your best bet is one of the "quad interface" drives on this page (second column from right): http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firew...W800_FW400_USB |

Re: Help! Running Pro Tools on Imac
That's the same computer I have. You can do pretty much anything you want to do, (within reason) on that machine. And if you get a newer one it comes with a thunderbolt port which will for sure give you about all the speed and power you'll need in the future.
