Default How to make a surround DVD for reference

I have a 5.1 recording I want to have on a portable, universal medium, like a DVD, so It can be used as a ref in non-professional environments (say, a home theater).

It doesn't need to have video, but if I need a blank picture just to make it happen, that can be done. Anyone know a fairly easy way to encode a 48kHz PCM 6-track to a DVD-Video disc on a Mac, for instance?

Or am I thinking of Blu-Ray format being able to do linear PCM? Can a DVD do linear PCM at all in surround? Or some sort of MPEG flavor, I'll bet.

Apple Compressor will let you author a DVD with either LPCM or ac3 audio.

probably best to do both, make a test dvd for those devices and one for blu ray.

full res on blu ray, maybe 448k on dvd as ac3

and yeah, use dvd studio pro

I did it once using DVD STUDIO PRO using a dummy video or you can also do it without the video. It was really user friendly....just drag and drop HTH
