Digi 001 sessions on other comps
I'm working on some songs with a friend in my project studio using the 001, and I was wondering if there was any way he could load PT on his home computer so I could send sessions home with him to be mixed/edited? Would PT free do this, or is the track count too low to read a file created on the 001? If I load the software on his comp, won't his comp then be searching for the interface? Is there any way to do this short of buying another digi 001 just for the software?

Re: Digi 001 sessions on other comps
Pro Tools free will only allow you to work with 8 tracks max, so you'll need the full LE version of Pro Tools. In order for him to use it, he doesn't necessarily need the Digi001 but could use the Audiomedia III card, which can be found these days for $200 or less on ebay. That is your only other choice to use Pro Tools and work on your sessions.

Re: Digi 001 sessions on other comps
So if he gets this automedia card, his comp will handle the version of pro tools straight off of a new CD? This sounds like a great idea and I'd like to try it, can you explain it in detail? Thanks - Jon

Re: Digi 001 sessions on other comps
As long as his computer is built to Digidesign's specifications for running Pro Tools, all he has to do is install the Audiomedia III card then install the drivers and Pro Tools software, and he's set. Then you can just burn a CD-ROM with your session and audio files, load them onto his computer and he can open and work on the session just like you can on your computer. It's that simple.

Even Audiomedia III owners that do not have Pro Tools can still purchase the Pro Tools LE 5.1.1 upgrade from the DigiStore for $50. The upgrade is a full install, and no prior installation of Pro Tools is required.

Re: Digi 001 sessions on other comps
Please excuse my ignorance, but how do I use an aux bus? I've never used this feature before. I was indending on just recording a track, changing the output to (example) stereo track 7/8, running digi outputs 7&8 into the 2 inputs on the M-one, then leading the 2 outputs of the M-one into the Inputs of 7/8 on the digi. From there, just set up a new Stereo track to record the effected wav off 7&8. Is an aux bus more efficient? Thanks - Jon
